Beech Valley is seeking an experienced Interim Accountant to support a healthcare organization in the St. Louis area. Reporting directly to the Controller, this hands-on leadership role will oversee core accounting and finance operations while providing stability during a transition period. The ideal candidate brings strong healthcare industry experience and a proven track record managing month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and accounting teams.
What You'll Do
- Lead and manage the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Supervise day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and payroll oversight
- Partner closely with the Controller on financial reporting, analysis, and operational priorities
- Review account reconciliations and maintain strong internal controls
- Manage and mentor a team of four accounting professionals
- Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for process improvement
- Support ongoing finance and accounting initiatives as needed
What We're Looking For
- Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting experience
- Healthcare industry experience required
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Experience leading month-end close processes in a complex organization
- Demonstrated success managing and developing accounting teams
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting operations
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work onsite and quickly step into a leadership role
Nice to Have
- Hospital or health system experience
- Experience working directly with executive leadership and Controllers
- Background in process improvement or finance transformation initiatives
