Overview
Beech Valley is supporting a private equity-backed, high-growth fitness franchise company in its search for a hands-on Controller to build and scale the accounting function. This role will partner closely with leadership and play a critical role in developing financial infrastructure, reporting, and processes as the company expands its national franchise footprint. The ideal candidate brings proven experience scaling multi-unit or franchise businesses and thrives in a fast-paced, build environment.
What You’ll Do
- Lead month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
- Build and enhance financial and operational reporting, including KPIs and management dashboards
- Develop scalable processes and controls across the back office to support rapid growth
- Oversee Accounts Payable and review payroll processed by a third-party provider
- Translate financial data into actionable insights for executive leadership
- Support annual audit processes and ensure compliance with accounting standards
- Evaluate systems and help guide future ERP implementation from QuickBooks Online
- Manage and mentor a small accounting team (1–2 staff)
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Controller or senior accounting leader in a scaling environment
- Demonstrated success in multi-unit or franchise business models strongly preferred
- Strong ownership mindset with a hands-on approach
- Expertise in building reporting processes, KPIs, and financial insights for leadership
- Solid foundation in accounting operations, close, and financial analysis
- Experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) required
- Ability to operate strategically while executing tactically
- CPA preferred but not required

- Background in fitness, franchise, or SaaS environments
- Experience working with private equity-backed companies
- Exposure to ERP system selection or implementation
