Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

We are helping our client to hire for an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Software Developer in Test to build scalable automation frameworks and enhance existing testing infrastructure for web, cloud, backend, and mobile applications.

In this role, you'll design, develop, and implement functional and integration automation tests for customer-facing mobile applications and backend services, ensuring comprehensive API, integration, and end-to-end test coverage. By automating repetitive testing, building robust regression suites, and validating edge cases and high-stress scenarios, you'll help ensure the reliability of safety-critical systems.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with extensive experience building automation frameworks from the ground up. They are passionate about improving software quality, enjoy collaborating across engineering teams, and continuously seek opportunities to improve testing efficiency through automation and AI.

As a Software Developer in Test, you'll:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for functional, integration, and subsystem testing.
• Build and execute automated tests for web, cloud, backend, and mobile applications.
• Collaborate with QA engineers, Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs), and software engineers to improve end-to-end validation workflows.
• Lead feature-level testing by developing test strategies, executing manual validation, and driving the transition to automated testing.
• Partner with framework and tool users to improve reliability, usability, and engineering efficiency.
• Implement AI-powered tools and workflows to improve test automation and productivity.
• Develop and maintain robust regression suites to validate critical functionality and edge-case scenarios.

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience in implementing AI tools in the testing domain.
• Hands-on Playwright automation experience.

Daily Tasks:

• As a Software Development Engineer in Test on the Product Software Quality Assurance team, your role will focus on building scalable integration automation frameworks and enhancing existing frameworks for automated testing of web-based cloud, backend, and mobile applications.
• You will design and implement functional and integration automation tests for mobile applications used by customers and backend applications, ensuring comprehensive test coverage at the API, integration, and end-to-end levels.
• By prioritizing automation for repetitive tasks, developing robust regression suites, and focusing on edge cases and high-stress scenarios, you will help ensure the reliability of safety-critical tools.

Required Skills:

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable functional and test frameworks used across the organization for integration and subsystem testing.
• Collaborate closely with QA, SDETs, and software engineers on cross-team initiatives to maintain and continuously improve end-to-end validation workflows.
• Lead feature-level testing by defining test strategy and plans, executing manual testing, and driving the transition to robust automation within an integrated tooling ecosystem.
• Support and partner with users of testing frameworks and tools, continuously refining them to improve reliability, usability, and overall engineering efficiency.
• Implement AI tools to make testing faster and more efficient.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 5 years of experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) with proven skills in writing automation frameworks for cloud applications from scratch.
• Strong proficiency with Python, Kotlin, and tools like Git and Buildkite.
• Experience building functional and performance automated tests for backend cloud applications.
• A self-starter who is capable of defining and implementing new tools and processes from start to finish.
