What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hardware Lab Technician position at Bee Talent Solutions?
Our client is looking for a Hardware Lab Technician supporting cutting-edge consumer hardware development in a fast-paced R&D environment. You'll work hands-on with hardware prototypes, perform testing and data collection, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.
What You'll Do:
- Support a hardware product design team (mechanical, audio, FEA, and Thermal) in a fast-paced R&D laboratory environment.
- Follow operating procedures to set up, perform measurements and collect data on a range of equipment including connecting necessary equipment and sensors, executing test scripts, and reporting data to engineering teams.
- Perform disassembly, metrology, and inspection on prototypes based on SOPs and engineering guidance to establish root cause for failures and performance.
- Assemble/Disassemble, operate, and troubleshoot prototypes, test equipment, and fixtures.
- Clearly track, prioritize, & execute multiple competing requests with minimal supervision, based on customer requirements.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions, schematics, procedures, and diagrams accurately.
- Ability to configure, troubleshoot, and modify electro-mechanical laboratory equipment and prototypes.
- Experience with common mechanical, audio, or thermal laboratory measurement/test equipment, and willingness to learn new tools.
- Knowledge of Python, Matlab, or other test scripting and automation tools.
- Experience collecting, manipulating, analyzing, and presenting data using software tools such as Excel, Minitab, JMP, or Matlab.
- Mastery of common office productivity software and ability to configure and maintain Mac/Windows computers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A.S., B.S., or technical training related to a science or engineering field, or equivalent related professional experience.
- Must be able to actively work in a lab environment, lift/move up to 50 lbs, sit/stand for extended time periods, and conduct repetitive tasks using hands, wrists, and arms.
- This role requires 5 days a week in-person presence at our Santa Monica office.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years laboratory experience working with consumer electronics.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude and fast hands-on learner for hands-on fabrication, assembly, troubleshooting, and problem-solving around hardware, software, and equipment.
- Experience using SolidWorks, NX, or other mechanical CAD software packages.
- Experience with Python, MATLAB, or other test scripting and automation tools.
- Experience with SoundCheck, Audio Precision, and HBK measurement tools.
- Experience with fabrication equipment (drills, band saw, 3D printing, hand tools, etc.).
- Experience operating metrology and analysis equipment (Keyence, CT, Instron, etc.).
- Hands-on knowledge of wiring, electrical testing, and micro-electronics.
