Designer I – Electrical Systems
Opportunity:
As a Designer I – Electrical Systems at Beckwood, you will play a key role in designing and supporting the electrical systems that power our industry-leading machinery. This position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with custom automation and press systems, contributing to projects that impact a wide range of industries—from aerospace to medical manufacturing.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and service teams to develop high-quality electrical designs that meet both customer requirements and industry standards. You’ll gain exposure to the full lifecycle of a project—from concept through installation—while building a strong foundation in control systems, panel design, and manufacturing integration.

What You`ll Be Doing:
- Develop detailed electrical schematics and control panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical
- Ensure compliance with UL508A standards and customer specifications
- Adhere to additional ANSI and NFPA safety regulations within electrical designs
- Perform design updates and modifications to support panel assembly and installation
- Monitor project budgets to maintain alignment with quoted parameters
- Coordinate control cabinet layout design with the Mechanical Engineering team
- Provide regular progress updates to management and participate in design reviews
- Assist with hardware-based customer service issues
- Maintain Beckwood’s standard parts list, boilerplate drawing sets and component catalog
- Mentor junior electrical designers, interns, and co-ops fostering technical growth within the team
- Execute additional tasks such as I/O checkout and preparation of Controls Approval documentation for customer sign-off when needed
What We’re Looking For:
Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in a technical discipline
- 1–3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment or 3–5 years relevant industry experience
- Possess technical skills in engineering processes and methods

Work Environment
This position is primarily based in a professional office environment but includes occasional time in the manufacturing facility to support projects and collaborate with production teams. While in the plant, employees may be exposed to typical manufacturing conditions such as machinery operation and moderate noise levels.
Physical Demands
This role primarily operates in a professional office environment, requiring the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while occasionally moving about to access office equipment and files. Additionally, the position occasionally requires moving throughout the manufacturing floor to position oneself for equipment inspection or maintenance. This includes ascending/descending and working atop ladders or elevated platforms, as well as accessing machinery at varying heights, including ground level.
