POSITION OVERVIEW
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial electrical construction projects. This role involves analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates. The estimator collaborates with Chief Estimator, Project Managers and a Purchasing agent to ensure bids are complete.
Key responsibilities include soliciting and analyzing subcontractor and vendor quotes, determining labor and equipment costs, and managing bid processes to ensure profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates including performing quantity take-offs, labor assignments, Miscellaneous materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings as needed.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Chief Estimator to finalize bids.
- Maintain and update historical cost data and estimating tools.
- Assist in value engineering and cost-saving strategies.
- Ensure compliance with company standards and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
Proficiency with computerized estimating software (Accubid and Bluebeam) and a strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and construction methods are essential.
- Strong analytical, organizational & communication skills, problem-solving, and risk assessment abilities are crucial for creating accurate bids.
- 2 years’ experience in electrical estimating within a commercial construction environment.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and construction practices.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.
- Familiarity with procurement processes and vendor negotiations is a plus.
