What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Quality Control Field Engineer position at Bechtel?
In this role, you will develop, administer, and possess responsibility for project construction quality control program activities. You will perform inspections, monitor subcontractor activity, and administer training and surveillance. You will lead cross-functional activities to ensure that construction operations follow contract, government standards, project specifications, and established quality control criteria. Previous or current Level II civil and electrical quality control certifications on a nuclear power construction project or a DOE project. #LI-CL1
Major Responsibilities:
Leads activities of subordinate quality control engineers, and other Inspection personnel, as assigned.
Issues and controls measuring and test equipment (M&TE). May perform calibration of M&TE. May lead the M&TE team.
Implements quality control procedures and establishes detailed schedules for onsite inspection activities.
Determines requirements for, and may direct preparation of, technical and administrative documents and reports.
Generally assigned to a single discipline activity interfacing with a multidiscipline operation.
Within assigned area, monitors the operations for adherence to project plans and specifications to ensure quality control compliance.
Monitors subcontractors’ and suppliers’ workmanship, installation of material and equipment for quality control compliance.
Performs inspection functions in accordance with the inspection plan, monitors inspection duties assigned to subcontractors, and reviews results of inspections.
Inspects and documents acceptance of construction activities and installations.
Identifies nonconforming items and corrective action requirements.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with mass concrete placements.
Experience with heavy reinforcements (such as blast walls).
Experience with mechanical splicing of rebar.
Experience with batch plant operations.
Experience with raceway and grounding activities.
Experience with cable installation and routing.
Must be a US citizen.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, which includes verification of employment and education.
Must be able to obtain site security badge for access to work site.
