Job Title: Principal Information Technology (IT) Specialist

Status: Full-time Professional

Annual Salary Range: $113,300 - $174,500

  • Salary commensurate with education and experience.


Job Summary

The Information Technology Specialist is responsible for leading complex technical projects that support the deployment, integration, and maintenance of enterpriseengineering systems and digital transformation initiatives. This role emphasizes the adoption of modern technology solutions, with a strong emphasis on the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of containerized environments to enable scalable and secure operations.

The individual will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to design scalable systems, promote digital thread connectivity and traceability across tools and workflows, and provide technical leadership to advance enterprise modernization goals, ensuring alignment with government standards for cybersecurity compliance and process optimization.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead the deployment, configuration, and optimization of digital transformation platforms in containerized environments (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) to ensure scalable, secure, and efficient system performance.
  • Oversee seamless integration between legacy systems and modern applications, enabling digital transformation efforts through enhanced data interoperability, uninterrupted operations, compliance with industry standards, and digital thread connectivity.
  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of IT projects, driving efficient scoping, planning, execution, and delivery while meeting technical, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Accelerate the company’s digital transformation objectives by supporting user adoption and satisfaction through structured training sessions, interactive workshops, and robust support resources that maximize system usability and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, including IT, engineering, procurement, and quality functions, to ensure system deployments are aligned with broader digital transformation strategies and operational improvements.
  • Monitor the performance and health of deployed systems, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements to improve system reliability and efficiency.
  • Develop governance workflows, enable data-driven decision-making, facilitate risk mitigation, and document technical processes, lessons learned, and configurations to ensure long-term sustainability and knowledge sharing within a digital-first organization.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related degree, from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of nine (9) years of relevant experience including IT systems deployment, infrastructure management, and/or software development.
  • Advanced degrees (e.g., Master's, Ph. D.) may be considered as a partial substitute for required experience, depending on the relevance to the position, but may not fulfill the entire experience requirement.
  • Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.


Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Experience in container lifecycle management, optimization, and troubleshooting to ensure system scalability and reliability.
  • Proficiency in system integration, including migrating legacy systems to modern platforms.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP, NIST SP 800-171).
  • Expertise in tools and methods for managing software infrastructure and enabling cross-functional workflows.
  • Clear and effective communication skills to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects with multiple stakeholders and deliver solutions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Experience with digital transformation tools and platforms (e.g., Syndeia, Teamwork Cloud, Jira, Windchill), and strong p roficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex topics clearly across internal and external teams.
  • Ability to manage priorities independently and contribute to team objectives with strong attention to detail and deadlines. Committed to maintaining high standards of quality.
