We are seeking a skilled automotive repair technician to join our team. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that vehicles and equipment are available and in good working condition at all times. This includes performing a variety of tasks related to maintenance and repair of mechanized and automotive equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
- Perform daily operations of equipment/vehicle maintenance for the department and all other county vehicles.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures, as well as laws and regulations related to the management of assigned areas.
- Maintain operating and maintenance knowledge of all vehicles and equipment.
- Order parts and pick them up from suppliers when necessary.
- Report incidents of equipment malfunction/failure, possible reasons for the problem, and suspected employee equipment abuse to supervisors.
- Perform on-call duties as required.
Requirements:
Education:
- A high school diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of experience in automotive maintenance/repair. A two-year degree in automotive maintenance or a related field, or vocational training in automotive maintenance/repair or a related field is preferred.
Certifications:
- ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) T1 thru T8 certification is preferred.
Experience:
- This level of ability is usually acquired through an apprenticeship or some education and/or on-the-job training of at least one year experience in servicing, maintaining and repairing mechanized and automotive equipment such as: diesel engines and/or gas engines.
Skills & Qualifications:
- A basic level of knowledge of standard practices, procedures, hazards, and safety precautions relevant to the mechanical and construction trade.
- Able to maintain courteous and effective working relationships with the public, coworkers, and other agencies.
- A basic level of skills in the adjustment, operation, maintenance and repair of mechanical and automotive equipment, and in the use of mechanical tools, materials and diagnostic equipment.
- Able to accurately and effectively transmit and receive information necessary to accomplish goals and objectives, including effective written and oral communications; and the ability to listen.
