Key Responsibilities
- Manage the accounting functions of the Business Office and work with other staff members to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare quarterly financial reports and support financial analysis for leadership.
- Coordinate the annual audit and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Support the CFOO in various areas, including the preparation of financial analyses for the Finance Committee and Board of Trustees.
- Assist with student billing and collections, as needed.
- Work closely with the Admissions Office on enrollment contracts and financial aid accounting.
- Work closely with the Philanthropy and Engagement Office on gift accounting, gift pledges, releases, and funds within the endowment.
- Monitor and report on budgets of internal school departments.
- Manage cash and credit card accounting, supervise accounts payable, perform bank reconciliations, and make other monthly journal entries.
- Maintain internal financial controls and organize financial documentation.
- Oversee nonprofit compliance and filings, including IRS Form 990.
- Other tasks and projects in the business office as assigned by the CFOO.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business. CPA or MBA is a plus.
- 7-10 years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit or independent school settings.
- Strong analytical & computation skills and high proficiency with technology, including Excel and accounting software, preferably Blackbaud Financial Edge.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of members of the community, including teachers, administrators, parents, and students.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a sense of humor.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $120,000 - $170,000, commensurate with experience.
