Job Summary
Join our dynamic dental practice as a Dental Receptionist/Front Desk Specialist! Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, creating a positive first impression.
  • Schedule appointments efficiently using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits through systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or EMR platforms including eClinicalWorks and Health Information Management systems.
  • Collect payments and perform medical billing tasks, including insurance verification and processing claims for Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurers.
  • Manage patient records accurately by updating and maintaining electronic health records (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
  • Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette; handle appointment rescheduling and patient inquiries promptly.
  • Review documentation such as care plans, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 codes, and medical terminology to ensure accurate recordkeeping and billing.
  • Support clinic operations by filing medical records, managing office supplies, and performing clerical duties such as typing reports and data entry with 10-key typing skills.
  • Assist with intake procedures for new patients and coordinate front desk activities to ensure smooth clinic flow.
  • Verify insurance benefits, process claims efficiently, and follow up on outstanding payments or documentation review requests.

Skills

  • Proven experience in a medical or dental office environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical coding including ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar platforms; experience with eClinicalWorks is a plus.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and office management software.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations.
  • Knowledge of health information management practices ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards for patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to perform clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, faxing, scanning documents, and managing multi-line phone systems efficiently.
  • Experience in insurance verification processes for Medicare or private insurance plans; familiarity with dental office procedures is preferred.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and providing clear instructions to patients regarding treatment plans or billing inquiries.
