Position Overview
We are looking for a General Counsel Attorney to join our legal team and provide day-to-day counsel to HOA boards and property managers on a broad spectrum of legal matters. This position offers the opportunity to develop strong relationships with clients and gain subject-matter expertise in a niche and growing field.
Experience in HOA law is preferred, but not required.
We welcome applicants with 3 years of experience in real estate, business, corporate, municipal, or civil advisory law who are eager to specialize.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general legal counsel to HOA boards of directors and property management companies
- Review and revise governing documents (CC&Rs, bylaws, rules and regulations, etc.)
- Analyze compliance with Davis-Stirling and other relevant statutes
- Draft legal opinions, resolutions, and client communications
- Attend and support client board meetings, including evening meetings (in-person or virtual)
- Advise on elections, enforcement, governance, and risk management
- Coordinate with litigation and collections teams when disputes arise
Qualifications
- California State Bar license (in good standing)
- Minimum 3 years of legal experience transactional work
(HOA or CID experience is a plus, but not required)
- Excellent legal writing and communication skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, and client-focused
- Comfortable speaking in public settings and board environments
- Team-oriented with a proactive, service-minded approach
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting salary: $150,000 , depending on experience
- $5,000 signing bonus after first 90 days
- Quarterly production bonuses based on exceeding monthly billing requirements
