What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Management Specialist (PART-TIME) position at Beaufort County School District?
- Advocate for students’ social-emotional and cognitive-behavioral skills development.
- Provide individual and group sessions that teach and roleplay social, emotional, and behavioral skills to students identified through the MTSS Process.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and key stakeholders to develop and implement behavior intervention plans and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships.
- Document in the appropriate electronic system on students' behavior, interventions, and ongoing interactions with students.
- Participate in team meetings and staffing for students including MTSS and IEP meetings as needed.
- Use Crisis Prevention Intervention techniques with students during intense episodes or outbursts.
- Participate in professional development sessions including attending conferences and taking specialized courses.
- Review specific program curriculums, evidence-based strategies, and teaching behavior skills related to job responsibilities.
- Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the policies of the Board of Education.
- Ensure adherence to good safety procedures. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, and District policies.
- Perform other related duties as necessary.
- Bachelors of Science or Arts in Education, Psychology, Sociology, or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications, and district-identified database program applications.
- Experience working with school-age children.
- Use strength to lift items needed to perform the functions of the job.
- Sit, stand and walk for required periods of time.
- Speak and hear.
- Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception along with the ability to focus vision.
- Communicate effectively in English, using proper grammar and vocabulary. American Sign Language or Braille may also be considered as acceptable forms of communication.
- Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, technology equipment, computers, and/or controls.
- Work effectively with and respond to diverse cultures or backgrounds.
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress in a neat, clean and professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
- Have regular and punctual attendance.
- Follow all District policies, work procedures, and reasonable requests by the proper authorities.
