Base Salary: $70,000–$80,000 annually
Howell Chase is seeking an experienced HVAC & Plumbing Service Manager to lead our service operations and help drive the continued growth of our team.
This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands the service business from both sides — leading technicians and working in the field. The ideal candidate has previous management experience along with a strong technical background in HVAC and/or plumbing.
What You’ll Do
Lead, coach, and hold HVAC and plumbing service technicians accountable for performance
Manage day-to-day service department operations
Support technicians with technical troubleshooting and difficult service calls
Monitor technician productivity, revenue, average ticket, callbacks, close rates, and other key performance indicators
Conduct regular technician meetings, training, coaching, and performance reviews
Ensure technicians provide excellent customer service and communicate professionally with homeowners
Help develop technicians' technical, communication, and sales skills
Review service calls and identify opportunities to improve performance
Work closely with dispatch and office staff to maintain efficient scheduling and workflow
Assist with recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training new technicians
Ensure company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards are consistently followed
Address customer concerns and assist with escalated situations when necessary
Help control labor, materials, warranty work, callbacks, and other service department expenses
Maintain a strong culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and customer service
Work with company leadership to achieve department revenue and profitability goals
What We’re Looking For
Required:
Previous HVAC and/or plumbing service management experience
Previous hands-on technician experience
Strong understanding of residential service operations
Proven ability to lead and hold technicians accountable
Strong technical troubleshooting knowledge
Excellent communication and customer-service skills
Ability to coach technicians on both technical performance and customer communication
Comfortable reviewing KPIs and using performance data to manage the department
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Valid driver's license
Preferred:
Experience managing both HVAC and plumbing service operations
ServiceTitan or similar field-service software experience
Experience managing department revenue, labor, budgets, and profitability
Experience recruiting, training, and developing service technicians
Compensation
$70,000–$80,000 base salary annually, based on experience and qualifications.
