Role Description
This is a contract hybrid role for a Shopify Engineer. The position is based in Des Plaines, IL, with the flexibility of performing some tasks remotely. The Shopify Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing custom Shopify themes, implementing eCommerce functionalities, optimizing site performance, troubleshooting issues, and staying up-to-date with new Shopify features and best practices. Collaboration with team members to align on project goals and deliver high-quality solutions is also an important aspect of this role.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in Shopify development, including creating, customizing, and maintaining Shopify themes and apps
- Front-end development skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Liquid template language
- Experience working with eCommerce platforms and understanding of payment gateways and APIs
- Problem-solving capabilities and the ability to debug and troubleshoot technical issues
- Strong attention to detail and ability to optimize website performance and user experience
- Proficiency with version control systems such as Git
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment
- Familiarity with SEO best practices and digital marketing strategies is a plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience
