POSITION SUMMARY: Mixes and serves drinks, stocks supplies, keeps accurate records of inventory, accepts money and makes change. Trains all new bar personnel on the P.O.S computer system. Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the bar, ensuring the utmost in Guest Service. Maintenance of a safe, clean and comfortable environment for guests at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following,
- Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible alcohol service.
- Promotes positive customer relations and consistently prompt service by daily monitoring of bartending staff while performing their duties.
- Maintains strict adherence to Bear River Casino Resort policies and procedures on alcohol service, over-service and stopping service.
- Takes daily inventory and stocks supplies by using preset par level. Ensures all products and supplies are recorded on proper issue sheets for accountability.
- Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of all bar equipment by providing daily cleaning schedules for all shifts.
- Maintains an orderly, accurate par level for each bar by accessing daily usage.
- Responsible for ensuring all beverage employees comply with state requirements of training.
- Maintain constant awareness of services, promotions, and events offered at Bear River Casino Resort and inform guests.
- Ensure excellent guest service delivery.
- Other duties may be assigned.
AUTHORITY/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervisory authority over Bar Backs and Beverage Servers, including staffing levels. Communicates job expectations, grooming standards, policies and procedures to team members. Makes recommendations to Manager on Duty in conjunction with Bar Manager regarding intoxicated guests.
Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- One (1) year bartending experience required.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience required.
- Bartending License and/or certificate preferred.
- Knowledge of basic drink recipes, cocktails, beers, wines and non-alcoholic drinks required.
- Must be neat, clean, and professional in appearance.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Shall possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance.
- Must provide or obtain a Food Handlers certification upon hire and maintain during employment.
- Must provide or obtain the Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification and maintain during employment.
COMPUTER OPERATIONS
- Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
- Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
- Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Casino Resort.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and customers.
- Strong judgment and ability to make and communicate decisions.
- Able to work well with customers and coworkers

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Being able to multitask, concentrate and communicate in this environment is a must. This is not a smoke free workplace. Although we employ state of the art filtration systems, cigarette smoke is in the work environment. Employee smoking is only permitted in designated employee areas during working hours.
