Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanic Support Technician to join our maintenance operations team. This role is responsible for assisting our mechanics service and repair fleet vehicles and heavy equipment to ensure optimal operation, safety, cleanliness, and proper maintenance. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with pickups, DOT haul trucks, and yellow iron equipment (e.g., dozers, excavators, loaders, etc) and be able to identify mechanical or safety issues in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
*Inspect heavy equipment
*Assist Mech/Tech in diagnosing problems, often using computerized tools
*Use various complex hand and power tools to repair and service equipment
*Test equipment that has been repaired and adjustments under direction and oversight of Technician or Mechanic unless familiar and knowing the testing process.
*Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work
*Disassemble and reassemble equipment
*Consult equipment operating manuals and blueprints
*Travel to worksites to repair heavy equipment
*Maintain equipment repair logs
*Report damaged or faulty equipment to management
*Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and well-organized work area
*Consult with other Technicians/Mechanics on smaller jobs
*Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions and at times in austere locations
*Available to work long hours and respond to after-hours call outs and including weekends.
Able to work alone at any given time and are comfortable with task given.
Required skills:
*Accurately read and understand Maintenance handbooks, Operational handbooks etc.
*Meticulous use of automotive and heavy equipment test and measurement instruments including calipers, gauges, micrometers and computer based diagnostic test sets.
*Verifiable experience and extensive knowledge working on Caterpillar, John Deere, Kenworth, Mack, Peterbilt and Volvo equipment and trucks
* Willing to pick up after yourself, clean your work area before you leave at completion of task.

Required Qualifications:
*High School diploma or equivalent
*Certification as a diesel-heavy equipment mechanic
*Proven and demonstrable work experience as a diesel or heavy equipment mechanic
*Understanding of computer testing technologies
*Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
*Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
