Duties
- Prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, ovens, and other culinary tools
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, adhering to strict food safety and sanitation standards
- Assist in meal preparation for daily service, catering events, or special functions
- Support the kitchen team by communicating effectively with fellow staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Maintain proper portion sizes and consistent food presentation.
- Keep the line stocked and organized throughout the shift.
- Monitor food quality, freshness, and proper storage.
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling procedures.
- Properly label, date, rotate, and store food.
- Assist with receiving and putting away food deliveries.
- Follow food handling procedures meticulously to ensure safety and quality control
- Contribute to menu planning by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation techniques
Skills
- Proven experience in food service, restaurant kitchens, or food industry roles with a focus on food preparation and cooking
- Strong knowledge of safety standards in production environments and food safety management practices
- Ability to follow recipes precisely and adhere to meal preparation guidelines
- Familiarity with operating various kitchen equipment safely and effectively
- Experience in dietary department or dietary aide roles is a plus, demonstrating attention to special dietary needs
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with kitchen staff and maintaining a positive team environment
- Knowledge of culinary techniques, food handling protocols, and catering procedures is highly desirable
