Duties
- Review and verify dental insurance claims using DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims through EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, perform medical collections, and resolve billing discrepancies efficiently
- Maintain comprehensive medical records, including detailed documentation of procedures, diagnoses, and patient interactions
- Collaborate with dental office staff to update patient information and ensure correct coding for each visit
- Stay current with updates in medical terminology, coding guidelines, and insurance policies to optimize reimbursement processes
- Generate reports on billing status, collections, and outstanding accounts to support financial analysis and decision-making
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing with a focus on dental or healthcare services
- Strong knowledge of DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems used in dental or medical offices
- Excellent understanding of medical terminology and medical records management
- Ability to navigate insurance claim processes and perform effective medical collections
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously
