About Us:
At Bark City Veterinary Specialists and Weekend Urgent Care, we are committed to providing the highest standard of veterinary care in collaboration with family veterinarians. As a small, locally-owned Specialty and Urgent Care Hospital, we offer comprehensive care, including specialized services, to ensure pets receive the best possible treatment. We emphasize a compassionate and personal approach, working closely with families and primary care veterinarians to create the most effective treatment plans for each patient.
Weekend Hours:
- Saturdays: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
- Sundays: 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
What We're Looking For:
We are searching for compassionate and motivated Veterinary Technicians and Assistants to join our fast-paced, growing practice. Ideal candidates will possess outstanding adaptability, a service-oriented mindset, and a strong ability to work within a collaborative team. Whether you're a highly experienced technician or an emerging talent in the field, we welcome your skills and dedication to patient care.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Emergency and specialty training a plus
- Strong math skills
- Anesthetic monitoring (ECG, SPO2, ETCO2)
- Radiology expertise and proper image acquisition
- Ability to integrate clinical signs with disease processes to support doctors
- Surgical preparation and anesthesia assistance
- Bandaging, splinting, and wound care experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Care: Provide exceptional client service and clear communication with pet owners
- Patient Care: Restrain animals for exams and procedures, monitor anesthetized patients, and assist with treatment plans
- Surgical Support: Prepare and assist with surgeries, manage post-op care, and administer medications
- Clinical Duties: Collect and process lab samples (blood, urine), perform diagnostic imaging, and ensure cleanliness and sterilization of equipment and the hospital environment
- Administrative Support: Assist with client check-in, file updates, and payment processing
- Ongoing Education: Maintain required CE for licensed technicians and stay updated on the latest veterinary practices
Veterinary Assistant Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree in Veterinary Technology or Animal Science a plus)
- 1 years of experience in animal care or a veterinary clinic preferred
- Strong multitasking, time management, and organizational skills
- Knowledge of animal behavior, health care, and basic clinical procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, etc.)
- Physical ability to handle and restrain larger pets when necessary
- Familiarity with EzyVet EMR system is a plus
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
Benefits & Compensation:
- Competitive hourly rate: $20 - $28 per hour (commensurate with experience and licensing)
