Surgical Veterinary Technicians and Assistants

About the Role:

As a Surgical Veterinary Technician or Assistant at Bark City Veterinary Specialists, you will play a crucial role in the surgical team, ensuring the safety and well-being of animals undergoing surgical procedures. Your primary responsibility will be to assist veterinarians during surgeries, which includes preparing surgical instruments, monitoring anesthesia, and providing post-operative care. You will also be responsible for maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to safety protocols to minimize risks during procedures. This position requires a strong commitment to animal care and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ultimately, your contributions will directly impact the health outcomes of our patients and the overall success of our veterinary practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2 years' experience in a veterinary clinic or hospital
• 1 year of experience working with anesthetized patients in prep/surgery/recovery
• Comfortable working with computers, phones, and people

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current certification or licensure as a veterinary technician in the state of Utah.
• Experience in a veterinary surgical setting.
• Experience with advanced surgical techniques and emergency procedures.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment before procedures.
• Assist veterinarians during surgical procedures by providing necessary tools and support.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and anesthesia levels throughout the surgery.
• Scrub in assistant to the surgical specialist
• Provide post-operative care, including administering medications and monitoring recovery.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation protocols.
