Job Summary:

The HR Generalist position is a dual role that supports the HR Department and administrative functions of the Business Office, reporting to the HR & Payroll Manager. HR duties include but are not limited to recruiting, hiring, onboarding, employee data file updates, employee verifications, etc. Office Manager duties include but are not limited to ordering and organizing supplies, submitting maintenance requests, assisting with front-desk operations such as greeting visitors, handling mail and packages, answering phones, and responding to customer and vendor inquiries.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

  • Assists HR & Payroll Manager and Human Resources Director in all aspects of recruitment and the subsequent hiring process including the creation of job descriptions, job postings, reviewing applications, conducting phone screens, and scheduling candidate interviews for Beak & Skiff and Gen V Labs.
  • Coordinates logistics for new hire onboarding and employee training sessions.
  • Ensures I-9s and NYS Wage Acknowledgements are current and on file for all employees.
  • Responds to employment verifications.
  • Ascertains, digests, and disseminates various United States and New York State labor laws and understands their implications to the company.
  • Receives visitors, sorts and redirects packages, mail pay checks, answer phones and customer and vendor inquiries.
  • Responsible for helping plan and execute employee events and initiatives that enhance employee engagement, foster a positive workplace culture, and promote team collaboration.
  • Manages Anti-Harassment and Sexual Harassment trainings and accompanying documentation along with HR & Payroll Manager.
  • Manage day-to-day office operations to ensure a clean, efficient, and welcoming environment.
  • Order and organize office supplies for the business office.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

  • Associates degree, preferably in human resources, required
  • Human Resources Generalist experience preferred
  • Paylocity Payroll & HR platform experience preferred
  • Equivalent combinations of education and work experience will be considered
  • Valid driver's license required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Computer proficiency including word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to facilitate difficult conversations.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and details simultaneously
  • Analytical ability to gather and summarize data, find solutions to various administrative problems, and prioritize work
  • Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports, keeping all confidential information secure
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to interact with co-workers and visitors in a professional and helpful manner in person or via phone or written correspondence
  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short- and long-term goals

Equipment, Machines and Software Used:

This position requires the regular use of a computer, printer, copier, and telephone.

Computer Software:

  • Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Gmail proficiency required.
  • Paylocity or similar payroll platform proficiency preferred.

Mental Requirements:

  • Close mental and visual attention required to perform work dealing primarily with preparing and analyzing data and figures, using a computer terminal, and reading.
  • Ability to compartmentalize private, confidential data related to employee compensation, health records, disciplinary status, etc. is required daily.

Light work - exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects.

Environmental Conditions:

Inside Work: With exposure to mild temperature changes.

Travel:

This position does not require travel.
