What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Software Engineer, AI position at Beacon?
About the Company
We're hiring a senior engineer to invent the future of AI-powered job search. Our client is a profitable, founder-led consumer tech company in New York whose platform serves millions of professionals. AI is already driving the company's strongest growth in over a decade. Now they need an engineer who can take LLM-powered products from promising prototype to production at scale.
Responsibilities
- Agentic workflows that automate the hardest parts of job applications, including the nuanced, high-judgment questions most tools skip
- An AI career advisor that analyzes a job seeker's resume, applications and skill gaps step by step
- The next generation of the matching engine: resume parsing, semantic search, vectors and recommendations
- Evaluation and benchmarking infrastructure to measure quality, catch hallucinations and compare models
Qualifications
- 6 years building production software, with strong fundamentals in system design and clean code
Required Skills
- Backend depth in Python, Go or JavaScript, plus production experience with React or Next.js
- Hands-on experience shipping LLM features: RAG, tool calling, multi-agent systems, prompt engineering or evals
- A builder who has taken AI products beyond the MVP stage and cares about reliability, quality and scale
What makes this different
- Real ownership. You own products end to end, from concept to production. It isn't a backlog-ticket role.
- A seat at the table. You'll brainstorm directly with product designers, the VP of Engineering and the founder on how AI should work for real users.
- Real stakes. Your work reaches millions of people and directly drives the business.
- Financial strength. The company is profitable and self-funded, with a clean cap table and meaningful equity upside.
