Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Responds to emergencies and codes inside and outside Beacon Mental Health facilities.
- Assists with all 911 calls, notifying appropriate Beacon personnel of emergency status, and communicating with Law Enforcement/First Responder agencies as appropriate.
- Collaborates with the other Crisis team members, CBHL team, Facility team, and code team staff to ensure all staff, clients, and visitors are safe during crisis incidents.
- Patrols building and surrounding property throughout shift, monitors surveillance equipment, and along with crisis or facility staff investigates security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behavior.
- Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities, reviewing with supervisor and Safety Committee.
- Participates in Crisis and code team meetings, Safety Committee, in-service trainings, and workshops, etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions and promote agency safety.
- Assists with the development and implementation of safety plans for various locations and special events.
- Assists staff in efforts to meet customer needs by directing and controlling traffic flow/parking and providing directions
- Provides assistance as requested to staff, visitors, and clients including vehicle and safety escorts.
- Maintains the organization’s stability and reputation by complying with legal and accreditation requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Certifications/Licenses
- Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related social service field and one (1) year of qualifying experience or three (3) years of qualifying experience .
- CPR and First Aid Certification Required
- Completion of Crisis Intervention Training within 6 months of hiring
- 3 years of related experience required with no degree
- If degreed, 1 to 3 years prior work-related experience preferred.
- Experience with de-escalation and/or crisis intervention techniques is preferred.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of mental illness and substance use disorders preferred.
- Excellent customer service skills with a recovery focus.
- Basic computer knowledge/skills with experience in Microsoft Office products; good concentration with attention to detail; the ability to maintain confidentiality; the flexibility to manage a variable workload; the ability to interact with the Agency’s customers in a professional and courteous manner.
