Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mold Maker for a full-time, on-site position at our Leominster, MA facility. The Mold Maker will be responsible for activities such as constructing, repairing, and modifying molds and tooling, interpreting technical drawings, and utilizing precision instruments and equipment. This role requires collaboration with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure high-quality standards are met. The ideal candidate is a highly skilled mold/tool maker who enjoys solving technical challenges and continuously improving mold performance.


Essential Functions & ResponsibilitiesTool Construction & Repair
  • Build, modify, repair, and maintain precision injection molds and tooling components.
  • Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, and reassemble molds to identify and correct tooling issues.
  • Perform mold refurbishments and preventative maintenance activities to maximize tool life and reliability.
  • Diagnose tooling-related issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Fit, bench, and assemble mold components while maintaining required tolerances.
Precision Machining
  • Safely operate and maintain manual machining equipment including mills, lathes, surface grinders, and other Tool Room equipment.
  • Machine components from raw materials using engineering drawings, models, and specifications.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to verify conformance to dimensional requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
Technical Collaboration
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and 3D models.
  • Utilize CAD viewers and eDrawings software to support tooling activities.
  • Work closely with Tooling Engineers, Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to resolve tooling concerns.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide recommendations to improve tooling performance, manufacturability, and maintenance practices.
Planning & Documentation
  • Plan and execute work activities to meet project timelines and production requirements.
  • Track and communicate progress on mold builds, repairs, and tooling projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to tooling repairs, modifications, and maintenance activities.
  • Support tooling quotations and repair assessments as needed.
Safety & Housekeeping
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
  • Safely operate cranes, lifting devices, and other material handling equipment.
  • Promote safe work practices and proactively identify workplace hazards.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.


QualificationsRequired
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of Mold Maker, Tool Maker, Precision Machinist, or related experience.
  • Experience operating manual machining equipment including mills, lathes, and surface grinders.
  • Experience assembling, disassembling, fitting, and repairing injection molds.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience working to tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship.
Preferred
  • Apprenticeship, vocational training, or formal Tool & Die education.
  • Experience with medical device, precision manufacturing, or regulated industries.
  • Experience with Wire EDM, Ram EDM, and CNC machining.
  • Knowledge of mold components, tool steels, and injection molding processes.
  • Experience utilizing CAD software or eDrawings.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance systems and tooling documentation.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485:2016, ISO 9001:2015, and ITAR requirements is an advantage.
