Position Overview
A nonprofit organization is seeking a temporary Accounts Receivable Specialist to support its accounting team. This individual will be responsible for invoicing, cash applications, collections, account reconciliations, and resolving payment discrepancies while helping maintain accurate financial records.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate and distribute customer invoices accurately and on time
- Apply and post payments, including ACH, wire transfers, checks, and credit card transactions
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding balances
- Perform collections activities and maintain positive relationships with donors, funders, vendors, and customers as applicable
- Research and resolve billing issues, short payments, deductions, and unapplied cash
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate variances
- Maintain accurate AR records and supporting documentation
- Assist with month-end close activities and account reconciliations
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve account discrepancies
- Prepare aging reports and other AR-related reporting as needed
Qualifications
- 2 years of accounts receivable experience
- Experience with cash applications, collections, and account reconciliations
- Understanding of AR aging and payment processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience working within an ERP or accounting system
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within a nonprofit organization
- Experience with high-volume transaction processing
- Exposure to month-end close procedures
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
