Tax Accountant

Our client is seeking an experienced SALT Consultant to step into a critical role supporting a multi-state operation. This is a highly visible position where you'll be the go-to resource for sales and use tax compliance, audits, and process improvements across nearly every state in the country.

With the current team member departing, they're looking for someone who can hit the ground running, keep the day-to-day tax function operating smoothly, and serve as a trusted partner to leadership.

• Manage multi-state sales and use tax filings and compliance activities
• Own day-to-day tax operations, notices, and reporting
• Serve as the primary point of contact for auditors, including gathering support, responding to inquiries, and helping drive audits to resolution
• Research tax issues and provide guidance on SALT-related matters
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and create efficiencies
• Partner closely with the Controller and CFO on tax-related initiatives

• 5 years of SALT (Sales & Use Tax) experience
• Strong multi-state tax experience
• Experience managing audits and working directly with auditors
• Ability to operate independently in a sole-contributor role

• Avalara experience
• Background as a SALT Manager, Tax Accountant, State & Local Tax Specialist, Indirect Tax Specialist, or similar

• Take ownership of an entire tax function rather than being one piece of a larger team
• Work directly with an approachable Controller and CFO who value new ideas and process improvements
