The Head Women’s Basketball Coach is expected to demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and accountability in all aspects of program leadership. This role requires flexibility, including evenings, weekends, and travel for competitions, recruiting, and institutional events.
The coach is expected to maintain a visible presence on campus and actively engage with students, faculty, and staff. In partnership with the Athletic Director, the coach will establish annual performance goals related to team success, recruitment, student development, and program growth. Progress will be evaluated through regular performance reviews with an emphasis on continuous improvement and strategic planning.

Primary Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Coaching
- Provide year-round leadership, organization, and administration of the women’s basketball program.
- Plan, conduct, and evaluate all practices, competitions, and off-season training.
- Develop and implement effective game strategies and player development plans.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and disciplined team culture aligned with institutional values.
- Monitor and support the physical health, safety, and well-being of student-athletes.
- Mentor student-athletes in academic success, personal growth, and life skills development.
- Monitor academic progress and implement structured academic support initiatives (e.g., study halls, progress tracking).
- Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and learning specialists to support student success.
- Promote accountability, time management, and leadership among team members.
- Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who align with the academic mission and culture of Beacon College.
- Build and maintain relationships with high school, club, and international programs.
- Coordinate campus visits and recruiting events in collaboration with the Admissions Office.
- Support institutional enrollment goals through strategic recruitment planning.
- Develop and manage competitive schedules in alignment with USCAA, NSAC and institutional guidelines.
- Coordinate all team travel, including transportation, lodging, and meals.
- Ensure full compliance with institutional, conference, and governing body regulations.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and program documentation.
- Develop, manage, and monitor the program budget in collaboration with the Athletic Director.
- Oversee expenditures related to travel, scholarships, equipment, recruiting, and operations.
- Ensure responsible stewardship of departmental resources.
- Participate in fundraising initiatives, donor engagement, and alumni relations efforts.
- Assist with special events, camps, and clinics to support program growth and revenue generation.
- Represent the College at athletic, community, and professional events to promote the program.
- Serve as an active member of the Athletics Department, supporting departmental goals, policies, and initiatives.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support game day operations, student-athlete programming, and shared departmental responsibilities.
- Contribute to campus-wide initiatives, committees, and events as assigned.
- Support student engagement and retention efforts through meaningful campus involvement.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to remain current with coaching strategies, compliance standards, and student development practices.
- Assist with supervision of athletics facilities and adherence to safety protocols.
- Perform additional administrative or institutional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or senior leadership.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Collegiate or high school coaching and/or competitive playing experience required.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit and develop student-athletes.
- Experience working with or supporting students with diverse learning needs preferred.
- Strong understanding of basketball strategy, skill development, and program building.
- Knowledge of collegiate athletics regulations and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with best practices in student-athlete academic support and development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in program planning, budgeting, and administrative tasks.
