Position Summary
The Personal Care Supervisor is responsible for supervising direct care staff, ensuring compliance with MaineCare and Maine licensing requirements, conducting required supervisory visits, evaluating employee competency, supporting new staff, and maintaining the highest standards of client care.
This position plays a key leadership role in maintaining quality services and ensuring Beacon Care LLC continues to exceed state compliance standards.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet at least ONE of the following qualifications:
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in good standing
- Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing
- Registered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Completion of a Department-approved Personal Care Services course with at least one (1) year of personal care experience
- A combination of at least five (5) years of education and/or experience in a related healthcare or human services field
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise Personal Support Specialists (PSS)
- Conduct required on-site supervisory visits for newly hired employees during their first three months of employment
- Observe direct care services while employees are actively providing care
- Assess employee competency and provide coaching when necessary
- Develop corrective action plans when performance concerns are identified
- Interview clients and/or legal representatives regarding satisfaction with services
- Ensure each client’s service plan is being followed accurately
- Complete and maintain all supervisory documentation
- Perform annual employee performance evaluations
- Assist with orientation and ongoing staff development
- Promote quality improvement and regulatory compliance
- Communicate professionally with clients, families, case managers, and agency leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous supervisory experience in home care or personal care services
- Strong leadership and coaching abilities
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Knowledge of MaineCare Personal Support Services regulations
- Experience with Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) systems is preferred
