FirstLight Home Care is seeking a Personal Support Agency Supervisor to join our Maine team. This position is ideal for an experienced home care or personal support professional who enjoys working with clients, supporting caregivers, solving problems, and ensuring that services are delivered safely and consistently.
The Personal Support Agency Supervisor is responsible for client service oversight, caregiver supervision, supervisory visits, service coordination, documentation, and quality monitoring in accordance with Maine Personal Care Agency requirements and FirstLight Home Care policies.
This is a hands-on position that combines office coordination with visits to clients' homes and supervision of direct-care personnel.
What You'll DoClient & Service Oversight
● Participate in client intake, service initiation, and in-home assessments as assigned.
● Review client needs, preferences, service expectations, and safety considerations.
● Monitor services to ensure they are consistent with the client's service plan.
● Identify changes in client needs and coordinate appropriate follow-up.
● Help ensure that services remain within the Agency's scope and the caregiver's qualifications and competency.
Caregiver Supervision
● Supervise Personal Support Specialists (PSS) and other direct-care personnel.
● Conduct required supervisory visits in client homes.
● Provide coaching, feedback, and performance support.
● Observe caregiver performance and identify training or competency needs.
● Follow up on client or employee concerns.
● Participate in performance evaluations and corrective action when appropriate.
Maine-specific responsibility: New direct-care employees must receive on-site supervision at least every 30 days during their first three months of employment. The Supervisor will document these visits and ensure appropriate follow-up.
Client Safety & Quality
● Monitor client safety and service quality.
● Identify concerns involving transfers, mobility, falls, environmental risks, or caregiver competency.
● Escalate concerns involving suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, unsafe care, or significant incidents.
● Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
● Promote client dignity, independence, choice, privacy, and rights.
Documentation & Compliance
● Complete supervisory visit documentation accurately and timely.
● Document client contacts, concerns, incidents, and follow-up.
● Maintain confidentiality of client and employee information.
● Follow Maine Personal Care Agency requirements and FirstLight Home Care policies and procedures.
● Assist with regulatory surveys, audits, and quality reviews as needed.

● Comfortable using electronic documentation, scheduling, email, and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet the qualifications applicable to the supervisory position under current Maine Personal Care Agency requirements.
Candidates must also:
● Successfully complete all required background checks and screening.
● Complete required Agency orientation and training.
● Meet applicable Maine qualification, registration, certification, or licensing requirements for the position.
● Maintain required credentials in good standing.
● Have reliable transportation for required client and supervisory visits.
● Have a valid driver's license and required automobile insurance if driving is an essential function of the position.
● Be able to travel to client homes throughout the assigned service area.

- Are you willing to supervise employees while ensuring they perform only duties that are within their training, competency, qualifications, and applicable scope of practice?
- Are you comfortable identifying and escalating client safety concerns, including unsafe transfers, falls, changes in client needs, suspected abuse or neglect, and caregiver competency concerns?
- Are you comfortable working both in an office environment and independently in clients' homes?
