Position Summary
The Vice President of Clinical Operations (VP of Clinical Ops) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all behavioral health programs and facilities. This role ensures clinical excellence, regulatory compliance, and financial sustainability while driving innovation and efficiency. The VP translates enterprise strategy into actionable plans, fosters cross-functional collaboration, and leverages financial and operational insights to optimize performance and patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute clinical operations strategies aligned with organizational growth and enterprise priorities.
- Anticipate market, payer, and regulatory changes; adjust departmental plans proactively.
- Align team objectives with organizational goals for quality, safety, and scalability.
Operational Excellence
- Standardize clinical workflows, documentation practices, staffing ratios, and productivity models.
- Oversee implementation of new programs and ensure site readiness.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Compliance & Quality
- Ensure adherence to state licensing, CARF/Joint Commission, CMS, and payer requirements.
- Partner with Quality & Compliance on audits and corrective action plans.
- Maintain evidence-based, trauma-informed care standards across all programs.
Financial & Resource Management
- Interpret financial metrics to guide operational decisions.
- Manage clinical budgets and workforce resources within established benchmarks.
- Implement cost-effective processes without compromising patient care quality.
Enterprise Collaboration
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with Finance, IT/EMR, HR, and Medical teams.
- Facilitate interdepartmental projects and share best practices to foster transparency.
- Collaborate with medical providers to align treatment pathways and optimize outcomes.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Mentor and coach clinical directors, DONs, and program managers.
- Develop staffing models that support patient needs and organizational scalability.
- Drive engagement and retention strategies for clinical teams.
