The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will provide advanced nursing care for patients with psychiatric disorders from the age of 13 through the lifespan in our Outpatient setting.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conduct initial and ongoing psychiatric and physical status based on the presenting symptoms and complaints, establish patient diagnoses, and manage medications for ages 13 through the lifespan in an Outpatient setting
- Document patients’ medical and psychological histories, physical assessment results, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes
- Educate patients and family members about mental health and medical conditions, preventive health measures, medications, and treatment plans
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team members including psychiatrists, psychologists, dietitians and therapists to develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans
- Communicate effectively with patients and family members regarding their medications, medical needs and other questions as required
Qualifications:
- Masters of Science in Nursing, with a Psychiatric/Mental Health emphasis, from an accredited college or university (required)
- Licensed as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing (required)
- Experience working with adolescents and families (required)
- Three (3) to five (5) years of clinical experience
- Experience working in higher level of care/hospital setting (preferred)
- Experience working with eating disorder populations (preferred)
- Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
