Join BCR Environmental's Engineering team and help develop innovative thermal treatment solutions for the wastewater industry. This role combines engineering design, project execution, supplier development, and client engagement to support the successful delivery and continuous improvement of BCR's thermal product portfolio.



Position Summary

Perform broad engineering support functions for BCR Environmental's Engineering team, assisting with project- and product-related assignments directed by Engineering Management for the thermal product line. Support the successful completion of engineering tasks that deliver technical value to the company.

Apply knowledge of process, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering principles to develop technical documents, calculations, and drawings. Manage projects across multiple technologies and contracts as required. Assist with procurement, document control, and other technical administration functions. Develop new supplier relationships and procurement strategies for thermal products.


Essential Functions

  • Aids in the growth of the company with a focus on wastewater business line technical services, ranging from biosolids treatment to conveyance and disposal management.
  • Engages clients in meaningful discussions about their most critical issues and translates those discussions into opportunities to deliver complete project solutions while capturing technical notes.
  • Actively participates in pursuit decisions and proposal and pricing development.
  • Engages and develops relationships with key industry partners, including vendors, contractors, and licensing partners that can help advance BCR Environmental's position in the marketplace.
  • Responsible for collecting all regulatory-required data, compiling regulatory reports, maintaining files of analysis results and regulatory reports, and coordinating research.
  • Manages the technical aspects of projects throughout the engineering process by assigning work, maintaining standards, evaluating results, controlling engineering costs, and reporting variations to management.
  • Assists in developing vendor document requirements, equipment submittals, drawing packages, and O&M manuals.
  • Works closely with the Engineering team and Product Manager.
  • Troubleshoots and reviews wastewater treatment processes and facility designs; evaluates process technologies; performs initial data gathering, analysis of existing systems, and initial process design.
  • Develops and maintains new procurement strategies for the thermal product line.
  • Identifies and develops alternative suppliers for industrial equipment.
  • Assists with process hazard assessments and the incorporation of safety into engineering designs.
  • Assists in generating new ideas for product improvement, reliability, and cost reduction.
  • Forms, maintains, and improves standardized technology designs to support repeatability and consistency.
  • Assists with Management of Change (MOC) planning.
  • Responsible for managing engineering documents within the document control process.
  • Develops and provides ISA datasheets, engineering descriptions, preliminary and final engineering designs, and recommendations for process upgrades.
  • Works across teams to develop solutions that address client needs.
  • Performs any other technical or engineering duties as directed by the Senior Project Engineer or Director of Engineering.
  • Assists with application design.
  • Tracks design changes through the Management of Change process on project documents, including P&IDs, PFDs, mechanical design drawings, and electrical design drawings.
  • Assigns and tracks work required for project execution across a wide range of disciplines, including mechanical design, electrical design, and external vendors.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering preferred; other engineering disciplines considered with relevant experience.
  • 7 years of experience working with water and/or wastewater treatment facilities and equipment.
  • Excellent ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work comfortably at heights.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
  • 2 years of experience working directly with customers and vendors.
  • 2 years of experience developing budgets, schedules, plans, and forecasts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint, and AutoCad



Desired Skills

  • Knowledge of engineering document control standards.
  • Experience using Management of Change (MOC) controls for engineering documentation.
  • 5 years of project management experience supporting industrial equipment projects.
  • 5 years of experience developing process engineering documents, including P&IDs, equipment datasheets, functional descriptions, submittals, project schedules, document indexes, and related documentation.
  • Experience speaking effectively before groups of customers or employees within an organization.
  • Experience defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Experience in supply chain management, supplier evaluation, negotiation, and supplier accountability.
  • Experience using Smartsheet.
