A respected full-service law firm is seeking a Trusts & Estates Associate Attorney with 5–7 years of experience in estate planning and probate to join its established New York City office. Attorneys in this practice work with individuals, families, business owners, entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth clients on sophisticated estate planning strategies, probate administration, and wealth preservation matters.


The ideal candidate possesses substantial experience drafting estate planning documents, administering estates, advising clients regarding probate proceedings, and providing guidance on estate and gift tax matters. A background in tax planning is highly valued and will allow the successful candidate to work on increasingly sophisticated matters involving wealth transfer and estate preservation.

Key Responsibilities


• Advise individuals, families, fiduciaries, and business owners on sophisticated estate planning strategies.

• Draft and review wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, and related estate planning documents.

• Handle probate and estate administration matters from commencement through final distribution.

• Represent clients during probate proceedings and related court appearances.

• Provide legal advice regarding federal and state estate, gift, and income tax implications.

• Assist clients with trust administration and fiduciary responsibilities.

• Develop customized estate planning strategies designed to preserve family wealth and minimize tax exposure.

• Analyze complex estate planning issues involving business succession and asset protection.

• Prepare legal memoranda, correspondence, and supporting documentation.

• Conduct legal research involving trusts, estates, probate, and tax law developments.

• Work closely with senior attorneys on sophisticated wealth transfer matters.

• Build and maintain long-term client relationships through responsive legal counsel.

• Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice areas when estate planning intersects with corporate, real estate, or litigation matters.

• Manage multiple client files while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.

• Ensure compliance with applicable New York probate laws and tax regulations.

Qualifications


• Minimum 5–7 years of experience practicing estate planning and probate law.

• Significant experience drafting sophisticated estate planning documents.

• Strong knowledge of probate administration and estate settlement procedures.

• Experience advising clients regarding estate and gift tax planning.

• Tax law experience is strongly preferred.

• Ability to independently manage complex legal matters.

• Excellent legal research, drafting, and analytical skills.
