The successful candidate will represent insurers, transportation companies, commercial entities, and maritime businesses in high-stakes litigation involving maritime accidents, cargo claims, insurance coverage disputes, property damage, and general liability matters.

Key Responsibilities
• Represent clients in maritime insurance defense litigation and complex commercial disputes.
• Handle all phases of litigation from case evaluation through trial and appeal when necessary.
• Defend maritime claims involving vessel accidents, cargo damage, marine insurance disputes, and transportation-related litigation.
• Provide legal advice regarding insurance coverage and liability issues.
• Conduct detailed factual investigations, including site inspections when appropriate.
• Coordinate with the United States Coast Guard, port authorities, and other regulatory agencies on maritime legal matters.
• Perform extensive legal research involving maritime law, insurance law, and related legal disciplines.
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, legal memoranda, settlement agreements, and appellate briefs.
• Prepare witnesses and clients for depositions, hearings, mediation, arbitration, and trial.
• Represent clients during depositions, court hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Negotiate favorable settlements while protecting client interests.
• Collaborate closely with attorneys, paralegals, experts, and litigation support professionals.
• Maintain regular communication with clients regarding litigation strategy and case developments.
• Manage multiple litigation matters while meeting strict court deadlines.
• Deliver exceptional legal service in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of maritime law and insurance defense litigation experience.
• Active Maryland Bar admission required.
• Additional admission in Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, or Virginia is advantageous.
• Strong background in maritime litigation and insurance defense.
• Experience handling product liability, construction litigation, premises liability, transportation, professional liability, property damage, and general liability matters.
• Superior legal research and legal writing abilities.
• Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills.
