What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Runner position at BC Restaurant Operator Inc?
Position Purpose
A Food Runner is responsible in working with the Expeditor to get food out to the dining room and point tables in a timely manner. We are a fast-paced restaurant that strives to deliver the finest in food, beverage and service of the highest standards.
Essential Functions
As our Food Runner, you would be responsible for serving food to guests’ tables in the restaurant's continuing effort to deliver The Best Guest Experience in the World. You are the “legs” of the expeditor. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Ensure food is served to guests in a timely manner and at the correct temperatures.
- Ensure extensive knowledge of food, menu and restaurant promotions and specials
- For large parties, ensure that “swarm” service is used.
- Responsible for detailed explanation of all items from the menu as well as specials
- Respond to guest requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
- Communicate to all front of the house staff when items are no longer available (“86’d”)
- Side work duties, upkeep of the restaurant
- Additional duties as necessary and assigned.
Ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- Knowledge of local products such as produce, seafood, farms, and farmers
- Ability to present and converse the menu, restaurant concept, and memorize daily specials in an eloquent manor as well as delivering the highest standards of service in a busy and fast paced environment
- Basic knowledge of common food allergies such as celiac
- TB Clearance
- Total commitment to proving the "Best Guest Experience in the World”
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to continuously bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill all tasks
- Requires manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours or in length per shift
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. including lifting items over shoulders and up and down flights of stairs on a regular and continuing basis to restock all product and items
- Able to work in all inclement weather such as in the sun, wind and or rain
- Near Vision - The ability to hear and see details at close range.
