Summary
BBVA is seeking an HR Benefits Intern to support the Benefits Manager in delivering a high-quality employee benefits experience. This role is ideal for a recent graduate who enjoys combining business thinking with an employee-first mindset. The intern will gain hands-on exposure to benefits operations, compliance tracking, process documentation, employee communications, and on-site benefits events, while contributing ideas that improve how benefits are delivered and understood.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Benefits Manager with day-to-day benefits administration and projects
- Help build and maintain a user-friendly employee benefits intranet
- Track and reconcile benefits-related invoices and maintain organized records
- Document and improve benefits processes and procedures
- Maintain compliance trackers, calendars, and audit documentation
- Coordinate and provide on-site support for benefits events and vendor sessions
- Handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (recent graduates encouraged) in HR, Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field
- Strong interest in employee benefits and HR operations
- Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas)
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
- Strong writing and communication skills with attention to detail
- Creative, well-organized, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proactive mindset and ability to approach tasks from both a business and employee perspective
- Ability to work independently while partnering closely with the Benefits Manager
- Spanish proficiency is a plus
Additional
- Internship, coursework, or academic projects related to HR or benefits preferred
- Familiarity with HR systems (particularly ADP WFN) or intranet tools a plus, but not required

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary is $85,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
