Role Overview:
BBVA NY is seeking a Risk Officer to join our Financial Institutions team in New York. This role requires specific experience in Financial Sponsors coverage. The role will focus on fund finance activity (capital call facilities), trading activity with funds, and holistic asset manager analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze Financial Statements, Credit Agreements, Borrowing Base certificates, Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs), and side letters. Prepare comprehensive, high-quality credit applications for new and existing deals.
- Present credit applications and deal summaries for approval to both the New York and Madrid Credit Committees.
- Review and process interim requests, including waivers and amendments.
- Maintain accurate credit files and documentation folders to ensure readiness for internal audits and credit quality control reviews.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of traded products and related documentation, including ISDA, CSA, CDEA, and GMRA agreements.
- Utilize advanced Excel skills to manage and coordinate spreadsheets and financial data from trading systems.
- Possess strong communication and presentation skills, capable of handling high-stress environments and meeting occasional crunch-time deadlines effectively.
Knowledge and Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of the Fund Finance space, structured products and derivatives documentation. Ability to analyze financial statements.
- Solid understanding of general credit risk principles, foundations, and methodologies. Strong ability to analyze financial statements.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related quantitative field.
- Five to fifteen (5-15) years of relevant experience in Finance, Credit Risk Management, Underwriting, or Loan Review, preferably within a major financial institution covering the FIG sector.

With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $150,000 to $180,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
