Position Summary
The CNC Programmer will be responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining programs used to operate computer numerical control (CNC) machines. They translate engineering drawings and specifications into precise machine instructions to produce high-quality parts efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and write CNC programs for mills, lathes, and other machinery using CAM software.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for various materials.
- Set up and test programs on CNC machines, making adjustments as needed.
- Optimize programs to improve cycle time, reduce waste, and enhance quality.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality teams to ensure production goals are met.
- Maintain program documentation and revision control.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification preferred).
- Proven experience as a CNC Programmer or similar role.
- Proficiency in CNC programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code).
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360).
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in machining, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Experience with multi-axis CNC machines.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
