Non-Exempt / Hourly / Full-TimeBRIEF POSITION SUMMARYThe Automotive Technician is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a variety of vehicles to ensure optimal safety, reliability, and performance. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems efficiently while adhering to safety and quality standards.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPerform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and tune-ups.Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic system malfunctions using diagnostic tools and equipment.Conduct 90-day BIT inspections and Annual DOT inspections as required.Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and documentation of work performed.Ensure tools and shop equipment are properly maintained, clean, and safe to use.Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety procedures, including use of PPE.Assist in training or mentoring junior technicians as needed.QualificationsKnowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehiclesWorking knowledge of vehicle diagnostic system and methodsAbility to handle various tools (e.g., pliers) and heavy equipmentWillingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.Effective communication skillsAbility to follow directions preciselyStrong reading skills and understanding of service manualsEDUCATION and EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalent.Completion of a vocational training program, certification, or apprenticeship preferred.Minimum of two years of experience as an automotive technician or mechanic preferred.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee will be:Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods.Use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate tools and equipment.Lift, pull, push or carry objects up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance or mechanical aid.Work in awkward or confined positions when repairing or inspecting vehicles.Operate standard automotive tools and diagnostic equipment requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.Tolerate exposure to moderate noise level, fumes, grease, dust and varying temperatures typically of a repair environment.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe position is primarily performed in a vehicle maintenance or shop setting.
