The Manager, Media Planning is responsible for overseeing a team of media planners while serving as a senior planning lead on priority accounts. This role oversees day-to-day planning execution across the full campaign lifecycle, acts as a subject matter expert on BBC’s advertising solutions, and helps implement and maintain standardized planning processes to ensure accuracy and consistency. The Manager, Media Planning, partners closely with Sales and cross-functional teams to deliver audience-first, omnichannel media strategies that meet advertiser objectives and support revenue growth. This role is based in the New York office and reports to the Director, Head of Media Planning.
- Manage and develop a team of media planners, providing day-to-day guidance, feedback, and performance support
- Help implement and maintain planning processes, workflows, and best practices in partnership with senior leadership and cross-functional teams
- Serve as a subject matter expert on BBC’s advertising capabilities, advising Sales and partner teams on strategic positioning for RFP responses
- Foster strong relationships and collaboration with partner teams to support the seamless creation and delivery of client proposals
- Lead the development of integrated media strategies across digital, audio, linear, social, and programmatic channels, leveraging BBC’s premium content, products, and first party data
- Oversee planning support from pre-sale through post-sale, including proposal development, forecasting, campaign booking, pacing, optimizing, and reporting
- Incorporate data, insights, and performance learnings into planning recommendations and optimization strategies
- Partner with Ad Operations and Client Success to ensure campaigns launch smoothly, deliver in full, and meet client objectives
- Support the development of proactive media packages into compelling, go-to-market opportunities for the Sales team
- Serve as the first point of escalation for planning-related questions and support
- 8-10 years of experience in media planning, sales planning, or digital advertising, preferably in a publisher or media environment
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate both internally and externally
- Highly motivated and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects and tight deadlines
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, using tools and technologies to provide critical insights and inform decision-making
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of media planning and sales support systems, technologies, and tools (e.g. Order Management Systems, Google Ad Manager, Salesforce, etc.)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $100,000. This does not include bonus compensation or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and geographic location of the position.
