Position Description
BBB Pathways is seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Biology Instructor to teach our Regents Test Prep course in Life Science: Biology for high school students. The instructor will guide students through core biology concepts with the New York State Living Environment Regents exam.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the NYS Living Environment Regents curriculum.
- Cover essential topics including cell biology, genetics, evolution, ecology, human physiology, and lab skills.
- Administer and debrief practice Regents examinations to track and improve student performance.
- Develop study guides, graphic organizers, and review materials tailored to Regents exam objectives.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction.
- Provide individualized academic support and encouragement to struggling students.
- Maintain attendance records and submit reports as required by program administration.
- Collaborate with the program team to align instruction with organizational goals.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive classroom environment that motivates student participation.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Science Education, or a related field.
- Experience teaching high school biology or preparing students for the NYS Living Environment Regents.
- Strong content knowledge in life sciences aligned with the NYS Regents curriculum.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (required).
- Effective classroom management and student engagement skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
Preferred
- NYS Teaching Certification in Science: Biology or Life Science (or equivalent).
- Experience conducting or facilitating science lab activities.
- Previous experience in supplemental education or enrichment programs.
