Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive Quality Control Manager to lead our Quality Control (QC) Technicians and provide strategic day-to-day guidance to Production Supervisors and Leads. As a key member of our food safety leadership team, you will ensure all products meet stringent safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented leader with excellent communication skills, adept at leading teams, driving process improvements, and collaborating across departments to achieve operational excellence.
Primary Duties
- Lead QC Technicians:
- Lead daily operations of the QC team, including training, scheduling, hiring, and performance management.
- Develop and implement comprehensive training programs to enhance QC Technicians' skills in food safety and quality protocols.
- Ensure timely submission of samples and paperwork to 3rd party laboratories, addressing non-conforming results promptly.
- Guide Production Supervisors and Leads:
- Collaborate with Production Supervisors and Leads to ensure production processes align with quality standards.
- Develop Food Safety Training in conjunction with Production and Maintenance Leadership to train Production operators and Mechanics on GMPs and HACCP
- Support investigations into non-conforming materials or customer complaints, guiding corrective and preventative actions.
- Program Management:
- Oversee allergen control and environmental monitoring programs in collaboration with Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs.
- Monitor lab supplies, equipment calibration, and documentation to maintain operational readiness.
- Audit and Compliance Support:
- Assist with internal, customer, and 3rd party audits, ensuring QC procedures and documentation meet regulatory and certification standards.
- Perform additional QC-related responsibilities as needed.
Job Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of 21CFR-117, FSMA, FSMA 204, SQF, and other relevant certification standards.
- Minimum of HACCP, Internal Auditor, and PCQI certifications with at least 5 years of industry experience.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams and fostering cross-department collaboration.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database systems; ability to quickly learn new software/portals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to guide QC Technicians and Production teams effectively.
- Highly organized with a proven ability to drive process improvements and maintain compliance with evolving regulations.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs with bending and twisting.
- Stand or walk for approximately 50% of the workday.
