The Lead Early Education Teacher at Bayview’s Intergenerational Childcare Center (ICC) is part of a unique, nonprofit program within a continuing care retirement community. This role leads classroom operations, guiding teaching staff while creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.
Our intergenerational model offers one-of-a-kind learning experiences, where children build empathy and social skills through shared activities like art, gardening, and storytelling with residents. The Lead Teacher plays a key role in shaping and implementing these experiences, ensuring they align with both early childhood best practices and the center’s mission.
This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, orderly, and stimulating classroom and center environment, including monitoring safety, supporting daily operations, and ensuring compliance with ICC and Bayview policies, as well as licensing regulations. The Lead Teacher also serves as a key point of communication with families, providing updates on children’s progress and development.
Success in this role requires a collaborative, relationship-focused leader who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and an effective communicator. The ideal candidate brings a positive, team-oriented approach, builds strong relationships across staff, families, and residents, and is able to guide others while working within established guidelines in a fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge and Skill
- High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- An Associate of Arts Degree, a Child Development Associate Degree, equivalent options or willingness to work towards.[FA1.1] (add this part to the lead but use “preferred” for the non-lead ad)
- Demonstrated willingness to continue attending educational offerings.
- At least two years prior experience working with children under five. (this is for the lead ad. The teacher ad can say “prior experience working with children under five preferred”)
- Meets or exceeds the minimum licensing requirements for certifications (i.e., CPR, HIV/AIDS, First Aid, Food Handlers Permit).
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Treats parent/child information in a confidential manner.
- Possesses good communication skills.
- Possesses good problem solving skills.
- Ability to be flexible and patient.
- Ability to have fun and laugh often!
