What are the responsibilities and job description for the COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST - FULL TIME position at Bayside Primary Care?
The Communication Specialist plays an essential role in supporting the daily operations of our busy primary care office by ensuring timely, accurate and professional communication with patients, providers and outside healthcare organizations.
Required experience: Three (3) years in a medical office performing the following tasks:
- Managing patient scheduling; answering, screening and directing incoming calls
- Creating and coordinating appointments
- Monitoring, completing and sending electronic faxes and patient portal messages
- Scanning and accurately filing documents into patient charts with appropriate notification
- Working knowledge of EMR system
- Updating surgery and hospitalization boards
- Processing incoming and outgoing medical record requests
- Completing necessary outboard patient calls and follow-up communication
- Understanding how medical insurance (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial insurances) works
- Other tasks, as assigned
- Medical, electronic billing is a plus
