Position:
OSSE Grant Reviewer (1099 Independent Consultant)
Grant Reviewers provide subject matter expertise to evaluate competitive grant applications submitted by schools, districts, community based organizations, and education partners across Washington, DC. Reviewers independently read, score, and provide written feedback on applications and may participate in panel discussions when scoring discrepancies arise.
This role is fully remote, flexible, and conducted through OSSE’s Enterprise Grants Management System (EGMS).
Key Responsibilities:
• Attend required virtual orientation and EGMS training
• Independently evaluate assigned grant applications
• Provide detailed, aligned scoring and written comments
• Participate in facilitated panel discussions when needed
• Submit all scores and comments within the required two week review window
• Complete all documentation required by OSSE
Required Qualifications:
Qualifications vary by grant competition but may include:
• Experience in education, literacy, early childhood, special education, social work, human services, project management, construction oversight, commercial real estate financing, or related fields
• Prior grant review experience preferred but not required for all grants
• Ability to commit to the assigned review window
• Strong analytical writing skills
• Reliable computer, internet access, and availability for required trainings
Compensation:
Reviewers are paid per application completed, with rates ranging from $100 to $150 per review- depending on the grant competition. Payment is issued after OSSE verifies successful completion of the full review process.
