- Possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Be a minimum of 21 years of age, have a satisfactory driving record as determined by The Board of Education and acceptable to the district's insurance carrier.
- Must pass annual Motor Vehicle check, Driving Performance test, Skills Test, Mountain Driving and Adverse Weather tests.
- Must practice confident and safe / cautious driving in inclement weather conditions.
- Must pass the Department of Transportation's physical exam when required.
- Needs to possess strong communication skills, ability to handle confidential matters, excellent tact and interpersonal skills.
- Must obtain First Aid certificate within three months of employment.
- Must pass random drug and alcohol testing, to be administrated by an outside licensed agency.
- Submit fingerprints for a criminal background check.
- Completed and submitted BSD on-line application.
- Perform and record daily pre/post trip safety inspections and report any defects or deficiencies to the Transportation Director.
- Bus must be clean at all times, which includes being swept, dusted and windows cleaned.
- Must obey all traffic laws at all times.
- Must observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Must enforce bus rules and regulations in accordance with Board approved polices of the school district.
- Must maintain discipline and safety with all students on the bus, and follow established student discipline procedures with being firm, friendly and fair; learn the names of the students, individual needs and/or intervention program.
- Report undisciplined children the Bus Misconduct report
- Must notify the Transportation Director in case of bus mechanical/electrical failures and/or tardiness; complete Bus Repair Order form as needed and report all other concerns appropriately.
- Must discharge students only at authorized stops.
- Must transport only authorized students.
- Must report all accidents immediately and complete all required reports.
- Have knowledge of and experience with proper procedures for emergency bus evacuations including location and use of all emergency equipment; perform evacuation drill as required by CDE and or the district.
- Properly operate a two-way radio within the Federal Communication Commission guidelines
- Retain all required annual testing with passing scores.
- Required to attend and participate in all staff meetings, in-service training and related activities including training to increase skills as required.
- Establish, maintain and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
- Participate in District Safety training and be prepared to help in evacuations.

Bayfield School is looking for a full-time, bus route driver to provide safe and efficient transportation for students.
Bayfield School District is located in the mountains of Southwest Colorado and is a short drive to Purgatory Resort, Wolf Creek Ski Area, and historic Durango. Operate specialized transportation equipment.
