Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable analytical laboratory professional to join our team in a fast-paced, 24/7 laboratory environment. Working the overnight shift from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM, Monday through Friday, this role is central to supporting process and quality control operations by delivering accurate and timely analytical data. Flexibility with shift scheduling and occasional overtime is required to meet evolving business needs.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine analytical testing to support process control, quality control, and other data-driven business functions
- Prepare and analyze samples using a variety of analytical instruments including pH meters, density meters, and viscometers
- Operate and navigate laboratory information management systems to record and manage analytical data
- Conduct daily instrument calibrations and perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment accuracy and reliability
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and compliant records in accordance with ISO standards and internal procedures
- Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with applicable regulations
- Troubleshoot instrument malfunctions and escalate issues as appropriate to minimize downtime
- Support basic HPLC and GC operations as needed
- Collaborate effectively with team members across shifts to ensure seamless laboratory continuity
- Remain flexible to work alternate shifts and overtime as required by business demands
Skills
- Proficiency in operating common analytical laboratory instruments including pH meters, density meters, and viscometers
- Working knowledge of HPLC and gas chromatography (GC) operations
- Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS)
- Strong understanding of ISO compliance standards and quality control practices
- Knowledge of hazardous waste regulations and safe chemical handling procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-shift reporting and documentation
- Ability to identify, diagnose, and troubleshoot analytical instrument issues
- Effective time management and ability to prioritize tasks in a high-volume environment
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently during overnight hours
Experience
- 3 to 4 years of hands-on experience in a chemical or analytical laboratory setting preferred
- Demonstrated background in performing chemical analyses in an industrial or manufacturing laboratory environment
- Prior experience with HPLC and GC instrumentation is a strong advantage
- Experience working in a regulated laboratory environment with ISO or similar quality standards
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, or a related scientific discipline preferred
- Familiarity with hazardous waste handling certifications or training is an asset
- ISO awareness training or equivalent quality management certification is beneficial
