The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
- Support plant and / or insect cell-based efforts by developing new assays and improving existing assays using robust scientific approaches;
- Apply plant tissue culture techniques and transformation;
- Utilize equipment and automation to support system innovation Identify process improvements, test, troubleshoot, and provide solutions to technical problems;
- Apply critical thinking, strategic mindset, and foresight in evolving technical and business environments;
- Present final project(s)/recommendation(s) to team at the conclusion of the co-op/internship.
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. program pursuing a degree in Cell Biology, Entomology, Protein Biochemistry, Plant Sciences, Molecular Biology, or related discipline;
- Working knowledge of cell and / or tissue culture;
- Ability to design, conduct, troubleshoot experiments, run basic statistics, and report results;
- Possess problem-solving skills and able to work both independently and as part of a team;
- Strong written and oral communication.
- Strong background in cell or tissue culture, and insect-and-plant interactions;
- Experience in the development or optimization of high-throughput assays;
- Familiarity with cell sorting and microscopy
