Bay Ship & Yacht is a modern shipyard located in Alameda, CA on the waterfront of San Francisco Bay. We provide drydocking and repair services to most commercial and government vessels on the Bay, including tugboats, ferries, Coast Guard cutters, cruise ships, pilot boats, yachts, and marine vessels of all kinds. The great variety of marine vessels drydocked at our shipyard provides challenging and interesting work.
A Ship Drydocking Specialist (Drydockman) drydocks ships, barges and boats. Working from prepared docking plans, the Drydockman builds the blocking cradle on which the ship will be docked, then floats the ship into the drydock and lifts it from the water with ballast pumps (floating drydock) or electric winches (shiplift).
We also offer training for mariners experienced with linehandling and mooring of vessels, with the capacity to learn the Drydockman trade.
